About this tool

The Counselling Skills Practice Room is an educational simulation tool provided by ConfidTherapy Ltd for use by counselling trainees, students, and practitioners for skills practice purposes only. By using this tool you agree to the following terms.

1. Not a clinical tool

This tool is not a clinical tool. It is not validated for use in any clinical, diagnostic, or therapeutic context. It does not constitute counselling, psychotherapy, supervision, or any regulated professional activity. Nothing produced by this tool should be used to inform clinical decisions.

All clients in this tool are entirely fictional and pre-programmed. No artificial intelligence system, including Claude (Anthropic), is a qualified counsellor, therapist, or clinical supervisor. Interactions in this tool do not replicate real therapeutic encounters and should not be treated as such.

2. For training use only

This tool is intended solely for:

  • Counselling trainees practising skills between sessions
  • Students studying at Levels 3–7 on UK counselling and psychotherapy programmes
  • Qualified practitioners seeking a low-stakes reflective practice environment

It must not be used as a substitute for supervised placement, accredited personal therapy, or qualified clinical supervision.

3. Confidentiality — your absolute obligation

You must not enter real client information into this tool under any circumstances. This includes names, identifying details, session content, diagnosis, risk information, or any material that could identify a real person.

By using this tool you confirm that all scenarios you explore are hypothetical or fictional. If you are a registered or trainee practitioner, your professional and ethical obligations under the BACP Ethical Framework, UKCP Code of Ethics, or equivalent body apply in full. Entering real client data into a third-party digital tool without client consent and appropriate data processing agreements would constitute a serious breach of those obligations and of UK GDPR.

ConfidTherapy Ltd accepts no liability for any breach of confidentiality arising from a user's failure to comply with this requirement.

4. Limitation of liability

ConfidTherapy Ltd provides this tool on an "as is" basis without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that:

  • The tool will be available at all times or free from errors
  • The simulated responses are clinically accurate or appropriate for all contexts
  • Use of this tool will improve clinical outcomes or examination performance

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ConfidTherapy Ltd shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from use of or reliance on this tool, including but not limited to professional regulatory consequences arising from misuse.

5. Intellectual property

All content, code, design, and client scenarios in this tool are the intellectual property of ConfidTherapy Ltd. You may not reproduce, redistribute, or modify this tool without written permission. Use is permitted solely for personal educational purposes.

6. Mental health and crisis support

This tool is not a crisis service and must not be used by anyone experiencing a mental health emergency. If you or someone you know is in crisis, please contact:

  • Samaritans — 116 123 (free, 24/7)

7. Changes to these terms

ConfidTherapy Ltd reserves the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of the tool following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. The date of last update is shown at the top of this page.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
